CM Vallone wins bet against CM Vacca over youth baseball game

The Whitestone Renegades’ 4-3 victory against Bronxchester on July 17 meant more than just another win.

The Renegades also helped Councilman Paul Vallone enjoy authentic Italian pastries on Thursday courtesy of Councilman Jimmy Vacca of the Bronx, due to a friendly wager between the two public officials on the game. Of course, the Renegades, a local travel baseball team out of the Dwarf Giraffe Athletic League, are now also entitled to bragging rights over their Bronx rivals.

Driver suffers apparent heart attack, dies in Queens crash that leaves passengers trapped, children seriously injured.

Anthony Boyd, 45, was near 35th Ave. and 21st St. in Astoria on Sunday when he lost control of his minivan and crashed into a fire hydrant. The driver's 44-year-old wife, along with her 28-year-old daughter and two grandsons, ages 1 and 10, were trapped inside the vehicle. Witnesses also saw a 7-year-old victim injured at the scene, but police could not confirm a sixth passenger.

Pastor De La Cruz died after losing control on a motorcycle and being thrown into vehicles in Queens, NY. Further,, three were hurt after an SUV launched off a curb and landed in a vertical position. Alcohol was found at the scene.
